Pinky the Crocodile

Providing guidance and assistance to others

Date: November 3, 2007

Introduction

If you want to share your skills and knowledge with others in technical communities, there are several ways to do that...

  • Writing the books or the articles
  • Having your own websites or blogs to share your knowledge
  • Open the seminars and speak in front of people
  • Creating the user's group ...etc.

In my case, I started up my own website to share my knowledge with others since 1999.  Actually, skills are invisible, so I used to express "what I know" or "what I can do" on my website, then I used to expect that somebody would ask me to hire me or so :-)

In fact, I used to get new jobs taking advantage of my website,
and finally, I got the chance to start writing a book in November 2003.

I changed from a temporary worker to a technical writer.

Problems for Evaluation in Japan

After I published the Japanese Expression Web book first, some people started attacking me because of their jealousy?

The people who providing technical information through the books, websites, seminars or whatever, unfortunately they got the terrible evaluations by some people. The reason why they do that way because they don't like him/her.

"I hate your way of speaking", "I hate your behavior", "I have your voice"...

Even though only one person doesn't like something, but the person describes it in exaggerated terms like "everybody hates that" or something like that.

They never evaluate by the content.
They often deny the person's character...That's the silly slander.

Yeah...that's the typical Japanese.

"Providing information to others" is praiseworthy, don't you think?
It is not easy to do that. They cannot understand how it is hard.
Doing something continuously is very important but difficult.

They show the tendency to evaluate by not the content but the person.

Then, they start posting to some bulletin boards on the Internet anonymously
to gather the fellows and get their agreement.

How to change the situation??
